Reorganization of HOERBIGER Automotive Komfortsysteme GmbH

The difficult market situation in the automotive hydraulics sector is forcing HOERBIGER to streamline its organizational structure. A total of 25 jobs will be eliminated at HOERBIGER Automotive Komfortsysteme GmbH in Schongau, Germany.

The crisis in the automotive industry in 2008/2009 led to a sharp drop in sales at HOERBIGER in the automotive hydraulics business, which predominantly comprises hydraulic drives for convertible roofs. The market has not recovered from this slump. In addition, more and more hydraulic drives are being replaced by electric roof drives.

Against the background of increasing market pressure, HOERBIGER has decided to adjust its organizational structure: HOERBIGER is cutting jobs in Schongau and relocating series support and application development to the production plant in Bolesławiec, Poland.

The restructuring affects 38 employees in Schongau. hOERBIGER can offer 13 employees a new function or a transition to partial retirement/retirement. In total, 25 jobs will thus have to be cut in Schongau. HOERBIGER is in discussion with the employee representatives in order to find a socially acceptable and fair solution.

HOERBIGER will push the development of new products in order to be less dependent on the roof hydraulics business in the future. Krzysztof Spiehs, Head of the Automotive Division: "The market offers us opportunities for the future. We are focusing on hydraulic chassis leveling solutions and vehicle door actuators. With these projects, we want to lead our division into a stable and promising future."
